Under the Education and Training Act 2020, the Ministry of Education has released the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 (the Code) exists to support and protect the wellbeing and safety of all tertiary learners (both domestic and international) enrolled with New Zealand education providers. The new Code, in place from 1 January 2022, combines the existing 2020 Interim Domestic Code and 2019 International Code. The new Code sets clear expectations for learner safety and wellbeing in tertiary education and has 24 outcomes. Outcomes 1-7 apply to all tertiary learners (students) and are relevant to Land Based Trainings learning environment and students.

What is the Code?

The Code for learner wellbeing and safety outlines the responsibilities of Land Based Training as an education provider in promoting and supporting your wellbeing and educational success. The Code exists to ensure that your needs are heard, respected, and upheld throughout the duration of your studies.
