Our team in New Plymouth have had a busy week, participating in the 2023 Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail! From the 27th of October to the 5th of November, our team over in New Start Gardens was one of 26 Taranaki backyards, to open their gardens up to the public and showcase what they’ve been doing. Staff and students had a wonderful time hosting visitors who could come, admire and pick up tips for their own garden.
The beautiful New Start Gardens showcased their Maara Kai and Apiary, where they are teaching Horticulture, Sustainability and Beekeeping. Our tutor and students have worked hard to create an organic and sustainable site, all of which contributes towards their relevant qualifications. All food grown is donated to their local Food Bank.
Their final day was Sunday, with Taranaki putting on great weather and lots of people coming to view our gardens and chat about what they’re doing.
