Brief Description:
This is a new position in the Traffic control system and is assessed with 1 unit standard. This unit standard is a pre-requisite to be able to move into any further traffic control licencing types.
Course Details:
Training involves about a 4-hour classroom session completing the theory unit standard.
Then a practical session to learn to put up signs safely and layout a taper and threshold for a stop-go worksite setup. On completion of this training, we then go onto the road to complete a practical assessment to assess that the trainee is competent to do this for a worksite.

This position replaces the TC position in combination with the TMO Practicing course and is assessed with unit standard 31959 which covers the theory.

The qualification is gained by attending a full day (8.30 to 5.00) classroom course.

Brief Description:
This position replaces the TC position in combination with the TMO Non-Practising course and is assessed with unit standard 39560 practical.
Course Details:
The qualification is gained by attending a full day (8.30 to 5.00) onsite practical setup assessment which involves off lane work only. (footpath and shoulder closures)
Once qualified this person will be able to setup and look after shoulder (off lane) and footpath traffic control only. The TMO can also be a site minder for on lane traffic control while the STMS is off site for short periods of time. (inspections or break periods)
