Transport Training Services

 

TTS offer training to get your passenger, dangerous goods, HT and forklift licence.

The training offered by TTS is provided to a high standard and focuses on safety in a professional way.

The following public courses are conducted each month in Palmerston North with a forklift course also being conducted each month in Whanganui.

  • Classes 2 – 5
  • Forklift (F) and Worksafe Certificate (formerly known as “OSH”),
  • Dangerous Goods (D) and
  • Wheels (W), Tracks (T) and Roller (R) – in any combination

Company groups – can be accommodated.

Training is also available for:

Class 2

Duration:

Three modules on separate days:

  • Two theory modules.
  • One practical drive consisting of tuition followed by assessment

 

Pre Course Requirement:

  • Trainee must hold a class 2 learner licence

 

Brief Description:

  • The successful completion of this approved training course enables the trainee to achieve class 2 full status without having to wait the usual time limit on a learner licence as stipulated by NZ Transport.
  • The trainee must provide or hire his/her own vehicle for the practical drive.

 

Course Details:

The trainee will be provided with one study guide for each of the unit standards being undertaken which are to be read prior attending the classroom theory.

Practical drive in a vehicle provided (or hired) by the trainee to take place on a separate day.

It is a requirement that trainees be able to read and record answers within the assessment without assistance.   This is essential to ensure that trainers and assessors can clearly communicate health and safety requirements to trainees and to give assurance that trainees will comprehend such instruction.

The course is a “closed book” one which means you are unable to access any study material during the assessment process.

 

Unit Standards:

  • 24089 – Demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, work time and driver log book requirements.*
  • 17574 – Operate a rigid vehicle to meet the requirements for a full Class 2 driver licence.

Required unless successfully completed with an approved driver licensing course provider previously.   Conditions apply.

Class 4

Duration:

Varies according to the driver training history of the person concerned.

Typically one to two classroom theory modules, and a practical drive on separate days.

Less time required if eligible to undertake the process of validation.

Validation:   To be eligible for this option, the trainee must provide acceptable evidence of having previously completed the unit standard/s to driver licensing standards (conditions apply).

Where appropriate the trainee will be provided with one study guide per unit standard to read ahead of attending classroom theory
